I hate climate control panel in my car, with my only options being "everything, auto, floor" and the temperature and fan controls being on annoying side rolling wheels.

To convert to the standard climate controls what would i need to change/purchase?

What exactly do you have, and what are you looking to go to?

i have mine on auto just about all the time.during the winter i tend to have it on "manual",close the fascia vents and have the fan higher than normal(just about always on minimum setting)I prolly use the a/c more during the winter than the summer.
that reminds me,its prolly time for an a/c run!

I dont get what auto is supposed to do, i find that it doesnt blow much air at all, and almost none onto the windscreen, whats the difference between it and the "all 3" button?

i think the auto function distributes air as a function of the temperatue difference between inside and outside.I had it figured out once but cant remember my theory now.My system blows heaps of air.
I think the system starts by blowing lots of air at floor level and as the temperature comes closer to the set temp more air is directed via the face vents and dash top.As this happens the fan speed tends to drop.
If you want more air to the screen the owners manual suggests you set it to the manual(or all 3 as you call it) close the fascia and dash top vents and crank up the fan speed. If you get fogging of the screen try the demist ,but i dont like it as its very very noisy(but effective). At this point i normally hit the a/c button

So, actually what you want is to downgrade from Klimatronik to manual aircon.
Never seen one doing this, only upgrading, but I can tell you it does not work by just changing the panels. 100% not.
Ever read about IHKA, IHR, HR?
The downgrad panel is not able to handle that many stepper motors. Ever looked at the back of it with all connectors?

i personally hate a full auto hvac system so i am with you, the problem with a retrofit is if you can adapt the vent control cables to replace the servos it uses now, anything is possible it's just a matter of how many parts need to be replaced and if you can find a handy parts car in a junk yard, worst case would be you'd need to replace the whole hvac box and dash wiring harness
