Just heard that my dad's '92 was totalled when some jackass hit him. Fortunately everyone is OK, but the car didn't fair so well. I haven't seen it yet but from the sounds of the damage, it will likely be a write-off.

This is really unfortunate since it was a super clean car to start with - was their weekend / road trip car until last winter. Last summer, I went through & replaced all of the typical wear items to make sure the car would be trouble free for the next few years as my dad had begun driving it daily.

Not sure what will happen with insurance yet. I'm heading home to look at it this weekend but would like to see if anyone would be interested in buying the remains. Don't want / need to make money, just a shame to see this car sent to scrap as I spent last summer making it perfect (inc. the typical suspension wear items + Bilstein shocks / Schnitzer springs)..

At the very least, I was hoping to swap out the wheels & tires on it (17" Style66 replicas) for the stock 15" basket weaves. The 15's have a nearly new set of Blizzak REVO's installed (last fall) & are also shame to leave on the car - if anyone had a set of stock wheels & tires in marginal shape, I could reinstall those & work out a trade.

'92 535iA, Calypso Red / Parchment, ~110k mi, new in the last 5k mi: Bilstein touring / Schnitzer springs, 235/45-17 Kumho SPT + Type66, 205/65-15 blizzak REVOs on basket weaves, high pressure PS hose, LF caliper, tie rods, idler arm, engine mounts, LCA's / 750 bushings (~20k mi), etc.

I can honestly say this was one of the nicer E34's still around. Need to find some pictures to post. Impact was pretty much square into side of other car. Sounds like all of the front clip sheet metal is damaged, curiously the airbag didn't deploy.

We've had this car since early 95, it was my ride to prom that year!

Barrington, 62 & 59-ish.

Beginning the joyful process of negotiating fair value w/ the insurance company. I've spent some time researching Autotrader ads but could use some help finding for sale ads of cars in similar condition. Where are the enthusiast classifieds now-a-days? Any leads appreciated.

BTW: Replacement will likely be 02/03 530i manual, hoping to find a sport w/ nav but not critical. Any leads for a clean car or insights about things to avoid with this model also appreciated.

Thanks again!
