When changing my diff, i notice that the rubber bushing bolting the rear diff carrier is showing some rubber breakage and soon needs replacement.

Do i have to remove the whole rear diff subframe from the car in order to push the rubber bushing out at the machine shop or there's a DIY way to do this without taking out lots of things?

thanks in advance for any suggestion,
rahman

You can cut the old bush out with a sawzall or use a chisel on an air hammer. then press the new bush in with a universal front wheel bearing installer.

You can probably fab up an installer with some 1/4" steel plate and a strong bolt. Some folks use the weight of the body to press the bush in, but it if cocks to one side, it can be tricky to straighten out.

Hi,

Actually i meant the rubber bushing that holding the rear differential to the subframe with long bolt. (But, i appreciate on how to remove/install tips the subframe bushes too, mine is coming to age also).

Are above procedures refer to the same bushings?
