Hi,

Does anyone own a caplyso red E34? Was it only available from 94 to 95? Does it look a little like a burgundy or maroonish? It is a beautiful color on an E34, howcome there are so rare?

Thanks.

Badshift.

Here is mine, you know, everyone always talks about them being rare, but there are 4 in my area where i live in Maine. I have a 1992 525i, and i have been told that this shade is calypso red, i love it, and i would say it is kinda maroonish, but anyways here aer the pics, the first three are my car at this web site-

My Calypsorot E34....

I can see how it would be a neat color...mine is pretty shot. Hopefully in a couple of years I'll be able to re-paint it.

Garett, if you're still around....did you replace the door edge moldings with the M-tech ones before you painted them, or did you paint the regular non-M ones?

That calypso with the bumpers and skirts painted looks pretty good.... :D

I've got a 95 clypso red, no pix yet :(

I noticed that most of the pictures posted, the e34s have black trim around the bottom of the car.... my trim is clypso red....

was this an option for 95s... some special package.... am I missing a special package??

I'll try to get some pix up tomorrow

All '95s had body-colored lower trim, AFAIK.

I wanna see what color Craig's turbo is. :)

Yep, all 1995 e34s had side skirts and front/rear bumper trim painted the same color as the rest of the car. The interior door panels also had "gathered" leather instead of the smooth panels seen on the previous models, and the steering wheel was upgraded with a Blue/White Roundel button in the center (just like the e39 & e38) instead of the solid black steering wheel with the raised "embossed" Roundel.

(1995 e34 steering wheel)...

BMW likes to send the last model year out with a bang. They did the same thing on the e38...the 2001 had a monochromatic paint scheme with painted side skirts and front/rear bumper trim...whereas the 1995-2000 models had black side skirts and bumper trims.

Check my pictures in "Favorite picture of your car - 56k DO NOT ENTER" thread (page 2). Does that qualify as "calypso red" ?

Mr Project

I was actually going to ask you if that was Calypso, Voodoo. It should say on the front passenger's shock tower in your engine compartment. (assuming it's LHD)

Yep, still here. Just slow in checking sometimes. As others have already mentioned, the '95s came with the skirts and bumpers painted. And I believe that all of the '95s also had the fat kidneys (wide grill, that is) as well. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that one.

Wow, yeah Garret, I did know that...for some reason I thought you had a 535i. I have no idea how I did that! Guess my reading comprehension is kinda low this week. :)

All the rest of us see where your pic is supposed to be is a big red x.

Here is a short explanation of posting pictures here.

The easiest way to deal with pictures on this forum is by hosting them at a website and linking to them. The website will generate the appropriate code for you so you don't have to deal with .. issue.

The easiest hosting site to use is photobucket.

http://photobucket.com/tutorials/register/register.html

After you register you will be able to browse to the photos on your hard drive and upload them. If they are really large, photobucket will zip them for you. After they are uploaded, photobucket generates code for you. There are 3 choices of code. The bottom one is the one that will work on this forum. Just paste it to your post and you will have a picture.

The code is in the format of the url You can use this convention to link to pictures hosted other places.

If you have any trouble feel free to message me.

There is a very long explain on pictures done by BigKriss if you want other alternatives or more info. BigKriss's post has a link in it to microsoft to download a photo resizer. That program is just the best. It makes emailing pictures easier. I always do the resizer step before loading to photobucket or attaching to emails or for craigslist, because photos load much faster.
