i wanna know everyones thoughts on self tinting of windows, i know that ifs bad if you use bad tint, but i have a way to get chrysler stock deep tint for free, but is it worth it or to hard to DIY?

It is kind of hard. I can almost bet you will get some bubbles no matter how hard you try.

But you need to be really clean, dust free, hair free and have a closed garage to do it in.

I uesd to take out the door windows and do them on a table.

The back window is the real test. Mock it up from the outside and call a friend to help put it up.

Lots for single edge razor blades

Clean new spray bottles

paper towels

clean bed sheets to lay out inside the car to catch spray and prevent the tint from sticking to the upolstery

I paid 175 which is high for a going rate around here, best money spent...car gone all day, comes back as a totally difft vehicle. Best money spent and I havent found one flaw as of yet.

there are some pretty big forums dedicated to the "art" of tinting, they have DIY tips, and links to the most reputable tinters by state.

You can get a really good professional tint done for a reasonable price, but you can get great results from DIY if you do it right. I have seen both.

pay someone to do it and the right place will give you a lifetime warranty and call it a day:)

My dad has a toyota 4-runner with a tint he installed himself. I didnt know it was a "DIY" until fairly recently, he is a perfectionist though.

gunna try to do it on my bros e30, tis good tint, and i figure if it goes bad take it off

I had it on my e30, loved it with the black on black. especially in the summer. The dark tint on the front windows was illegal in alot of states. Watched a friend try it once. I'd never have the patience. Take it to a pro unless you got something to practice on.

Take your time and try to make it perfect.

Cause removing it later is much more work.

Ken, where in Jersey are you located?? Noticed the lighthouse plate, are you near the beach??

Damn, you have good eyes if you can make out the plate at that angle.:D

I live in Cinnaminson/Moorestown area. My family has a house on Long Beach Island.

no i was just kidding, im gonna see how much i can tear off on the way to the chi town meet. Gonna have the kids help with razor blades too.

i think i overdid my tint. 5 % but who cares? Took it to a dealer, got a lifetime warranty so, im good!

NOPE! not ever. i even had two diff. officers pull me over for other reasons and they said nothing at all. maybe it's because of where i stay, lots of people have dark tint,so i guess they are use to it.

By the way i paid $200 for my job. A bit pricey though.
