I am new to the forums, and I have a 1995 530i with a Dinan suspension, chip, and E34 M5 Throwing Star wheels. I love the way the M Tech body kit looks, but don't know much about what is involved in terms of what the kit consists of. Here is the part number for the entire kit:

51 71 9 061 649

Can someone give me some information on it? How much does it cost? Thanks!

Well...it costs a bundle, thats for sure. I believe the list price is ~1200-1400 iirc. Thats unpainted.

You can see the front bumper of it on your picture, right in the middle.
For 95 cars, it is cheaper since don't need the rocker panels, jsut the front and rear and trunk spoiler. However, if you can find the kits for the touring will be even cheaper, no trunk spoiler. But the chances are not very good at this point. When I pick up my set back in 1998, there was only two complete sets in the US and it was $2200.00 with heavy discount. Maybe you can find it by pieces, ie, front bumper cover and rear bumper but will also need to piece together all the hardwares for installation. Anyway, good luck.

Ok, you guys are talking about the m5 bumper or mtec? Two different things.

gamites car has mtec- or at least I thought that was the difference.

Thanks everyone for your quick help! Aside from being possibly NLA, what pieces come with the kit for '95? It involves changing the entire bumper skins, correct? I have a 1996 Accessories catalog, but it is vague. But what Liquid Tiger posted is not the same M Tech kit in my catalog. The M Tech kit pictured is EXACTLY the same as the M5 body kit. $2200 is not worth the price for such a subtle change IMO, and beside, my poor BMW is 3rd in line for mods...I've got a customized '03 New Beetle Convertible 1.8T that is yearning for a Garrett GT28 turbo...If anyone is at all interested, here are some links to pics of my VWs and my BMW.

Does anyone have the Alpina front spoiler? I got a price quote from Alpina themselves, and it cost a bit over a grand, which seems ridiculously expensive for a front spoiler that doesn't even come painted!!!

Got my side skirts for $400.00 and another $300 paint job + $500 for the DTM front lip. If I known better, I would invest in some nice rims instead of a body kit.

The mtech and the M5 are very very similar. The differences lie in the front bumper cover, the side skirts and rear bumper cover is the same. The difference with the Mtech and M5 ones are that the Mtech bottom lip is edgier and sticks out a little more. Plus the ducts for brake venting are vented, has holes, while the M5 has one side that is actually cut out. Thats the physical difference minus paint. The paint differences are that the Mtech body that came on 540i sports and sport package in Europe and other parts of the world has montone color while the M5 has 2 tone. The kit on Gamite's car is not a BMW one, it is fiberglass unlike the factory plastic one. It gets pasted onto the stock bumper.

Where can I buy a front fiberglass piece like the one on Gamite's car? I like that and need a new bumper cover. PO had an incident with a snow bank in Sun Valley. Anyone have any suggestions for a new cover or a paste on.

ask zaraska in canada if he has any bumps laying around. He sold me a mtec set last year for a decent price. It was $750 to have everything sanded and sprayed with two colors.

It's not a cheap upgrade even with used stuff.

www.willz.ca or http://willz.ca/

There's also another guy who only sells euro M5's. He's in cali named Saliya I think. He sold me a nice set of T-stars.

good luck
