A brick.
Ladies and Gentlemen, say hello to Thor.

If those wheels made you wonder if he’s packin boost....

http://homepage.interaccess.com/~motria/0506thor2.jpg

A little more than stock too, like 5 psi more. Notice the big tip, piping is only slightly smaller. Straight thru, no muffler, just a cat. No A/C either. Lightweight crank pulley, upgraded ignition, battery relocated to the rear. Explains the crazy wheel gap up front. *rolleyes*
Yup just a little boxy....
Heck there’s like room for a threesome back there.

Oh those are BFG G-force Sports. Sticky-icky............he needs them.

Good pick Paul, my neighbor swears by (at) Volvos. He's owned several in the past 12 years, one of which was the one like you have here. He traded it in after almost 300k miles and got a 740 AWD, put almost 250k on that one and now has an S70. Since he doesn't travel to the upper Michigan area any more, the S70 has been spared the mileage. During ownership of the other two Volvos, there were only a couple instances where he was hit with heavy repair bills. Although he doesn't do any of his own repairs, the maintenance of the car is religiously followed and helps to achieve the higher mileage.

In keeping with your legend of "Teddy", I think you should have named it "Theodore"...=) and you're going to have trouble finding it in those Chicago winters...=) they make excellent winter time vehicles.

Good luck with it Paul, now you'll have to find a Volvo board, or just PM winfred when you've got questions. =)

Thanks guys.
Oh the name is sooo appropriate. For two seconds i considered a female moniker...........then it hit boost again. Or was it that the HVAC fan started screeching again. Thinking powerful, punishing, Scandinavian brute the name was a no-brainer. Came up with it days before i even decided to buy. This thing is wicked quik on boost. Running on 93 octane, theres no detonation or pinging. From the residue on the tailpipe he may even be running a hair rich even.
Did i mention that the center dash is all fuxored from an ugly unauthorised stereo removal. *sigh* I just drive round with the garage boom box. At least its still wired for a serious system. Two sets of nice RCA cables already cleanly run back and Kenwood 2-ways in all the stock buckets.
He was immediately dropped into the rotation as the daily driver and hauler. The roof rack (got it with 'Helga' actually) was utilized within days to run an 8’ ladder down to the boat. Same day i threw the mower inside to get some fresh gas, the can is still full of last years vintage. *rolleyes*
Hope to get some shots of the interior. The fabric is ultra clean and the headliner is 7/10 with NO sag. Even the drivers seat shows no wear and very supportive. It’s as nice as ‘Rolf’ inside, and to those that have seen him that means something.
All in all not bad for 190K miles and.............wait for it...............$1150. The only thing i’ve really splurged on was the tires. But the old ones were hopeless keeping this back end in check when it rained. Hell, they hydroplaned too.
Another week and the ‘new’ daily driver/weekend warrior t-top sr20 equiped sentra based hotness will be up for prime time and ‘Thor’ can slack off to backup/hauling duties.

Why? When ‘Helga’ is found a suitable home i can throw 5K plus at the house (hopefully). Much more appropriate for me is a 525iT (did someone say s50/manual swap) and that can wait. But i will miss her something fierce, she is still such a wonderful all around car. Nobody does steering/handling like the boys from Munich. But i’m not fully leaving the fold, ‘Rolf’ is goin nowhere. At least until that perfect touring comes up. And if i have to wrench a Bimmer, it’s gonna be a straight six........their forte.

Best part was that for weeks i had been skimming/searching thru Brickboard, Turbobricks.com and Winfreds comment’s on the topic here and feel that i made an educated decision.
The internet enabling another junkie. ;)

if you want a 780 get a 88 and up they have irs, the first year 87s were solid axle this one looks decent at a glance (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4548402577&category=6458&sspagename=WDVW) absolutely stay away from the PVR boat anchor v6 motor, get a turbo (actually the 87 and up L-jetronic motor wasn't that bad but god did the early ones SUCK) they had pretty neat factory sound systems with a digital eq and a couple amps with lotsa speakers
