I bought one for the E30 318is, was assured it would work on the M42 (early). Well, it didn't. It is drilled larger for a bushing (I knew that going into it), but the attachment bolt is too long, and interferes with the lower timing cover. I've got the whole shebang on ebay (tensioner, bushing, bolt, and washer) with the reserve set at half what BMA wants for it, and it is all brand new stuff. Let me know if you're interested. Here's the eBay link:

Too late, I just changed them all on the customer's car... The one on the right of the engine was completely desintegrated... Pieces all over.

The chain was chewing the metal out of the cover...

STill there is a slight vibration at 3000 in the engine....
